Sikubora installs at Ngongongare school

Sikubora recently provided solar energy to another Arusha region school at Ngongongare. Though TANESCO reaches relatively near areas, the school near to Momella does not have grid access. Sikubora engineers installed a 150 Watt system to provide the staff offices with lighting, printing capabilities, computer usage, and device charging.

Sikubora installs for United Nations Court

Sikubora’s engineers and personnel were excited to partner with an important project in their own neighborhood. The new United Nations Court construction across from Sikubora’s headquarters is expected to bring more activity to the area, but Sikubora initially did not expect a direct collaboration with those constructing the building. In early November, the contractors partnered with Sikubora for the installation of 11 small solar panels, 30 Watts each, in the outdoor garden of the UN Court.

Sikubora recently sent three of its female engineers to the 3rd annual Women in Tech conference in Nairobi, Kenya. Sikubora, which has the same number of female employees as it does male employees, took advantage of this opportunity so its women could benefit from such a conference.

Sikubora welcomes a second rotation of students from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, USA. Through a partnership with Northeastern, Sikubora takes on students from the College of Engineering who are interested both in renewable energy and in gaining work experience abroad in East Africa. Sikubora solar powers Orkokola health clinic

Sikubora partnered with NGO WODSTA to deliver power to a health clinic in Orkokola. WODSTA donated a Sikubora system in order to provide energy to the doctors, nurses, workers, and patients of the clinic. Since Orkokola is slightly out of TENESCO’s reach, the health clinic had no electricity access before Sikubora’s installation.

Sikubora continues powering schools

Sikubora headed deep into Ngaramtoni to provide solar energy to Mukulat Secondary School. Sikubora engineers installed a 150 Watt system to provide backup power for two dormitories. With consistent power grid outages, the students were often inhibited from studying in the evening; however, with a solar energy backup system, power outages are no longer a problem, and the students have electricity at any time.

Sikubora completes first school installation

February 8, 2016

Sikubora engineers traveled to the Moshi area in order to provide solar energy to . The school had used a previous solar energy system from another provider in some classrooms and the library, but the old system was out of service and needed repair. Sikubora engineers replaced three batteries, a charge controller, and some lights, and then rewired the old system, so that the classrooms and library would have quality energy again.
